Setup

Connect it in 5 steps.

ChatGPT on the web. Once added, it’s available in your chats.

Custom MCP servers need ChatGPT’s developer mode, which is in beta and not on every plan. OpenAI’s help article lists the plans and what each can do.

New to SocialHelper? Connecting an assistant, in the help center.

  1. 1

    Open Plugins in ChatGPT

Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server. If that option is missing, turn on developer mode in ChatGPT’s settings first. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin may have to allow it.

  2. 2

    Describe the server

Name it SocialHelper. Under Connection, choose the public endpoint and paste the address below. Keep OAuth as the authentication: ChatGPT finds SocialHelper’s sign-in settings by itself.

    https://socialhelper.app/mcp
  3. 3

    Create it

Read the risk notice, tick “I understand and want to continue”, then select Create as a plugin.

  4. 4

Sign in and pick a team

ChatGPT opens SocialHelper. Log in, choose the team whose accounts ChatGPT may use, and select Connect.

  5. 5

    Use it in a chat

Start a new chat, type @ and pick SocialHelper. Then ask: “List my SocialHelper accounts.”

Things to ask

What you can ask for.

Talk to ChatGPT the way you would to a colleague. These all work once your accounts are connected.

Post
“Turn this announcement into a LinkedIn post and a shorter one for Bluesky, show me both, then post them.”
Post
“Here’s a photo from today’s event. Write a caption and post it to our Instagram and Facebook Page.”
Schedule
“Schedule three posts about our spring sale for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 am.”
Check
“Did yesterday’s post go out everywhere? Give me the links.”
Data
“Which of our pages got the most clicks from Google last week?”
Data
“Compare this month’s sessions in Google Analytics with last month’s.”

Before anything goes out

You stay in charge.

An assistant that can post for you should be careful about it. SocialHelper builds that in, whichever assistant you use.

It asks before posting
SocialHelper tells every assistant that posts are public, and to confirm the text and accounts with you before it publishes.
Checked before it’s sent
Each post is checked against every platform’s limits first. If anything doesn’t fit, nothing goes out and the assistant sees every problem at once.
Never posted twice
Retries only happen when nothing was published, so a hiccup never turns into a duplicate post.
Disconnect anytime
ChatGPT appears under Connected apps on the API & MCP page. Disconnect it there and it loses access at once.

Limits

What ChatGPT can do.

ChatGPT gets 11 tools. Here’s what they cover, and what they deliberately leave out.

It can

  • Post now, or schedule for later, to 12 platforms: Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok and more.
  • Attach images and videos from a public link, or a file you shared or made in the chat.
  • Check each platform’s limits before posting, and fit the text to them.
  • Edit or cancel a scheduled post before it goes out.
  • Tell you whether a post went live, with its links, or why it failed.
  • Read reports from Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Google Ads.
  • Look up and draft content on your WordPress, WooCommerce and Ghost sites.

It can’t

  • Connect or remove social accounts. You do that in the SocialHelper dashboard.
  • See your API keys, invite people or change your plan.
  • Reach accounts in a team you didn’t connect it to.
  • Delete a post that’s already live on the platform. Cancelling stops only what hasn’t gone out.

FAQ

Questions about ChatGPT.

Do I need an API key to use SocialHelper in ChatGPT?

No. You paste the server address, sign in to SocialHelper and pick a team. ChatGPT never sees a key.

Who can connect ChatGPT?

The team’s owner or an admin, since connecting takes permission to manage API keys. ChatGPT can then use every account connected to that team.

Will ChatGPT post without asking me?

SocialHelper tells ChatGPT to show you the text and the accounts and wait for your yes before it posts. Scheduled posts can still be edited or cancelled until they go out.

Which accounts can ChatGPT post to?

The accounts connected in the team you picked when you signed in. To use another team, connect ChatGPT again and pick that team.

Can ChatGPT read my marketing data?

Yes, once you connect those accounts. It can run reports and lookups on Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Google Ads, such as your top search queries or sessions by page.

What does it cost?

SocialHelper is free during early access. ChatGPT may need a particular plan of its own for custom connections; check OpenAI’s documentation.

Give ChatGPT a posting button.
