How to schedule Facebook posts on Pages, groups and profiles
Schedule Facebook Page posts in Meta Business Suite up to 29 days ahead, group posts as an admin, and what profiles can’t do. Steps from Meta’s help pages.
8 minute read By SocialHelper team
You can schedule Facebook posts on a Page and in a group you run, but Meta’s help centre has no way to do it on a personal profile. On a Page, open Meta Business Suite, click Create post and turn on Set date and time. Pick a time between 20 minutes and 29 days away. In a group, admins and moderators use the Calendar icon next to Post. A scheduler such as SocialHelper holds the post itself and can plan up to 1 year ahead.
The guides that rank for this question contradict each other. One says 75 days, another says 30, and one says every profile can schedule. Everything below follows Facebook’s and Meta’s own help pages as they read on October 17, 2026.
What you can schedule on Facebook
Where you post decides whether you can schedule and how far ahead. Meta Business Suite is Meta’s dashboard for a Facebook Page and its linked Instagram account, and it’s where you schedule Page posts.
| Where it posts | Who can schedule | How far ahead |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Page, in Meta Business Suite | People with Facebook access or task access | 20 minutes to 29 days |
| Facebook group | Admins and moderators | Not stated in Meta’s help |
| Personal profile | Not documented by Meta | None |
| Pages API | Apps with a Page access token | 10 minutes to 30 days |
| SocialHelper | Your team, once the Page is connected | Up to 1 year |
The Page, group and profile rows come from Facebook’s help centre, the API row from Meta’s developer guide, and SocialHelper’s row from its own code.
How to schedule a post on a Facebook Page
Facebook access is the Page role that lets someone switch into a Page and manage it on Facebook, with full or partial control. Task access is the role for people who manage a Page only from tools such as Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager (Facebook Help Center: About Facebook Page access). Either one can schedule posts.
Facebook says that “you can schedule posts to publish between 20 minutes and 29 days away” (Facebook Help Center: Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page).
- Switch to the Page you want to publish as, then click Meta Business Suite in its left menu.
- Click Create post, below the Page’s profile picture.
- Add your text, photos, video or link.
- Next to Scheduling options, turn on Set date and time.
- Pick the date and time, or click Active times to see the times Meta recommends, then click Schedule.
Scheduled times use your current time zone, so convert them first if your audience lives elsewhere. In Meta Business Suite on a computer, Active times are based on when your followers were most active over the past 7 days. The same Create post screen can also post to your Instagram profile or a group you manage. Pick them under Post to (Meta Business Help Center: Create and manage posts in Meta Business Suite on desktop).
Schedule from your phone
The Meta Business Suite app schedules posts, reels and stories for your Page and Instagram account (Meta Business Help Center: Schedule content on the Meta Business Suite mobile app).
- Tap Content in the menu at the bottom.
- Choose Posts, Reels or Stories at the top, then tap Create.
- Add your text and media, then tap Next.
- Tap Schedule for later, pick the date and time, then tap Schedule.
Schedule a reel
In Meta Business Suite on a computer, click Create reel instead of Create post. Choose where it goes under Post to, add a video or photos under Media, write the caption, and click Next. Facebook lets you trim the video or change its audio on the next screen. Reels from business or creator Pages can only be posted publicly. Then choose to schedule it, set the date and time, and click Schedule (Meta Business Help Center: Create and manage reels in Meta Business Suite).
Find, edit or delete scheduled Facebook posts
Planner is Meta Business Suite’s calendar of everything published and scheduled on your Page and Instagram account. From your Page, open Meta Business Suite and click Planner in the left menu. Switch between Week and Month at the top left, click the post, then click Options.
- Edit post changes the text, media, link or location.
- Duplicate post copies it as a new post.
- Reschedule post gives it a new date and time.
- Move to drafts cancels the time and keeps the post as a draft.
- Delete post removes it.
The same list is under Content, on the Scheduled tab of Posts & reels. Planner can also filter by content type and by where it was shared, including Facebook Groups (Meta Business Help Center: Use Planner in Meta Business Suite).
How to schedule a post in a Facebook group
Admins and moderators can schedule group posts. Only admins can set up posts that repeat (Facebook Help Center: Schedule a post or set up recurring posts in a Facebook group you manage).
- Go to facebook.com/groups and open your group.
- Click Write something… to start a post (you might need to click Discussion first).
- Write the post, then click Calendar next to Post.
- Choose the date and time, then click Schedule.
The Calendar option appears only after you’ve started typing, which makes it easy to overlook. Scheduled group posts are under Scheduled Posts in the group’s Admin tools menu. From there you can reschedule a post, publish it now, edit it or delete it.
Recurring posts are group posts that Admin Assist publishes daily, weekly or monthly. Click Admin Assist, then Add next to Publish a custom post, write it and choose how often. Each one appears in Scheduled posts 24 hours before it goes out, where the admin who set it up can change it.
Can you schedule posts on a personal Facebook profile?
Not according to Meta’s help centre, whose scheduling articles cover Pages and groups only. A search of the help centre for profile scheduling returns those same two articles. Pro mode adds professional tools to a profile. Its help page lists insights, safety tools, discovery and monetization, but not scheduling (Facebook Help Center: Turn pro mode on or off for your Facebook profile).
Some guides say a profile in pro mode shows a scheduling option in the Facebook app. Meta doesn’t document that, so verify it in your own app before relying on it. Meta Business Suite and the Pages API both support Pages, which makes a Page the dependable choice for planned posts.
Schedule Facebook posts with the API
The Pages API can schedule a Page post for you. Send published=false with a scheduled_publish_time to the Page’s /feed endpoint, and Meta publishes it later. Meta says the time “must be between 10 minutes and 30 days from the time of the API request” (Meta for Developers: Pages API posts).
A Page access token is the credential that lets an app post as a Page. Your app gets one through Facebook Login, with the pages_manage_posts permission, from someone who can create content on that Page.
That window is slightly wider than Business Suite’s 29 days, though still roughly a month. Our guide to social media APIs covers how the other networks handle posting.
Schedule Facebook with your other networks in SocialHelper
A scheduler helps when Facebook is one of several places you post, or when you plan more than a month ahead. In SocialHelper you write the post once, pick your Facebook Page and any other connected accounts, and then choose When.
- Schedule sends it at the date and time you pick, up to 1 year ahead.
- Add to queue gives it your next free posting time. Posting times are recurring weekly slots your team sets up once, up to 70 a week.
SocialHelper keeps the post itself and publishes it at its time, so Meta’s 29-day limit doesn’t apply. Before anything is scheduled, it checks the post against Facebook’s rules. A post takes up to 10 photos or one video, never both, and images must be JPEG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB. Text stops at 63,206 characters, a limit the character limits guide explains.
SocialHelper checks for due posts every minute, so a scheduled post goes out within about a minute of its time. If Meta’s response is ambiguous, for example after a timeout, SocialHelper first looks for the post among the Page’s recent posts before trying again. That way a retry doesn’t publish the same post twice, the problem our idempotency guide covers.
You can edit or cancel a scheduled post until about a minute before it goes out, and the scheduling help page has every step. SocialHelper connects Facebook Pages only, not profiles or groups. Developers can send the same post through the REST API with a scheduled_at time, or with queue set to true.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I schedule a post on Facebook?
Most often because you’re posting from a personal profile, and Meta documents no scheduling for profiles. On a Page, check that you have Facebook access or task access and that the time is between 20 minutes and 29 days away. In a group, only admins and moderators can schedule, and the option appears after they start typing.
Where did the schedule button go on Facebook?
For Pages, it moved into Meta Business Suite. Click Meta Business Suite in your Page’s left menu, click Create post, then turn on Set date and time under Scheduling options. In a group, the Calendar icon sits next to Post once you start typing.
How do I see my scheduled posts on Facebook?
Open Meta Business Suite from your Page and click Planner, or click Content and then the Scheduled tab. For a group, click Scheduled Posts in the group’s Admin tools menu.
Why is my scheduled post not showing?
Check Planner first, then the Drafts tab under Content. Move to drafts removes a post’s scheduled time and keeps it as a draft, so a post moved there accidentally stays unpublished.
Can you schedule Facebook and Instagram posts together?
Yes, Meta Business Suite publishes to both at once. Choose your Page and your Instagram profile under Post to, and write a different version of the text for each if you like. The Instagram scheduling guide covers what Instagram adds, such as stories.
How far in advance can you schedule a Facebook post?
Up to 29 days in Meta Business Suite, and 30 days through the Pages API. SocialHelper schedules up to 1 year ahead because it publishes the post itself.
How we checked this
We read Facebook’s help articles on Page, group and pro mode features, Meta Business Suite’s pages on posts, reels, the mobile app and Planner, and Meta’s Pages API guide on October 17, 2026. We then ran a fact check of every step and limit against those pages. We analyzed SocialHelper’s Facebook module and scheduling code on October 17, 2026 for its row in the table and its checks.
If Facebook changes these steps, contact us and we’ll update the guide.
